How It Works

What is Still Here and how does it work?

Still Here is a wellness check-in service. We send you an email on your chosen schedule — daily, twice a week, or weekly. You click one button to confirm you're okay. If you ever stop responding after multiple reminders, we notify your emergency contacts. It takes 2 minutes to set up and requires no app — just an email address.

What happens if I forget to respond?

We don't panic. First, we send a second reminder 15 minutes later. After 1 hour, a third reminder. After your configured escalation window (default: 3 hours), we notify your emergency contacts. The message says: "Still Here hasn't heard from [Name]. We recommend reaching out to them directly before taking further action."

What if I'm going on vacation, camping, or off-grid?

Turn on Vacation Mode with one click. Set the dates you'll be away, and we'll pause check-ins until you return. No false alarms. Your emergency contacts can optionally be notified that you're going off-grid so they don't worry.

Can I change my check-in frequency?

Yes, anytime. Solo plan supports daily check-ins. Duo and Family plans let you choose custom schedules: specific days of the week, specific time windows, or every other day.

Emergency Contacts

How do my emergency contacts know what to do?

When you add someone as an emergency contact, we send them a confirmation email explaining what Still Here is, what an alert looks like, and what steps to take if they receive one. They can customize their notification preferences. We recommend also having a brief personal conversation with each contact — we provide scripts to make this easy.

Do my emergency contacts need to install anything?

No. Emergency contacts receive notifications via email. They don't need an account, an app, or any special software. Just an email address.

What happens if my emergency contact is unreachable?

If you have multiple contacts (Duo and Family plans support up to 3), we notify them in your preferred order. If none respond, we continue retrying at intervals. You can set up custom escalation rules on Duo and Family plans.

Can my emergency contact opt out?

Yes. Every contact confirmation email includes an opt-out link. If someone declines or opts out later, we notify you so you can choose a replacement. We never send alerts to someone who hasn't explicitly consented.

Privacy & Security

How is my data protected?

All data is encrypted at rest (AES-256) and in transit (TLS 1.3). We comply with GDPR (EU) and CCPA (California). We never sell your data, ever. You can export or permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from your dashboard. For full details, see our Privacy Policy and Security page.

Is Still Here a replacement for 911 or medical alert systems?

No. Still Here is a convenience and peace-of-mind service — a digital "neighbor checking in." We do not contact emergency services. If you're in immediate danger, always call 911 (US), 999 (UK), or 112 (EU). Think of us as the person who notices you haven't picked up your newspaper — not an ambulance.

Do you share my data with third parties?

No. We use Stripe for payment processing (they receive only transaction data, not check-in data). We use Cloudflare for infrastructure (they receive only network-layer data). No other third parties have access to your data. We don't use analytics trackers, ad networks, or data brokers.

How much does Still Here cost?

Solo: $3.99/month — daily check-in, 1 emergency contact, 3-layer escalation, vacation mode. Duo: $6.99/month — custom schedule, 3 contacts, wellness journal & mood log, custom escalation, priority support. Family: $12.99/month — up to 5 members, admin dashboard, wellness trend reports, 24/7 priority support. All plans include a 14-day free trial.

What's included in the free trial?

Full access to the Solo plan for 14 days. We ask for your card upfront to prevent abuse, but you won't be charged until the trial ends. We send a reminder 3 days before your trial expires. Cancel anytime with one click — no phone calls, no retention scripts.

How do I cancel?

One click from your account dashboard. Your subscription ends at the end of the current billing period — no partial-month charges, no early termination fees. Your data remains exportable for 30 days after cancellation, then is permanently deleted.

What payment methods do you accept?

All major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Discover), Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Link — all processed securely through Stripe. We don't store your card details on our servers.

International & Accessibility

Can I use Still Here outside the United States?

Yes. Still Here works worldwide for anyone with an email address. Check-in times are based on your local timezone. Emergency contacts can be anywhere. We're GDPR-compliant for EU users.

Does Still Here work on my phone?

Still Here works through email, so it works on any device that can receive email — no app required. The check-in confirmation link works on any browser. For the best experience, we recommend whitelisting our sender address so check-ins don't go to spam.
